Canine Learning Theory

Personalized Attention: Small class sizes allow us to focus intensively on each dog and handler pair, addressing specific needs and challenges.

Real-world Application: Our unique approach ensures that your dog not only excels in a controlled environment but also behaves reliably in real-world settings without the use of aversive tools.

Confidence Building: Boost your dog's confidence as they successfully navigate various situations with positive and force-free guidance.

  • Dogs learn by linking neutral stimuli with meaningful ones, a process known as classical conditioning.

  • Dogs learn through consequences: positive reinforcement (rewarding desired behavior), negative reinforcement (removing aversive stimuli), positive punishment (adding aversive stimuli), and negative punishment (removing pleasant stimuli).

  • Yes, dogs can learn by observing and imitating behaviors of humans or other dogs, a concept called observational learning.

  • Habituation is dogs getting used to repeated stimuli, and desensitization involves gradual exposure to reduce fear or reactivity, both crucial in helping dogs adapt to their surroundings.
