Our obedience program helps your dog master foundational behaviors crucial for daily life. Training modules often include:

Basic Obedience Classes
Our Fundamental Puppy Courses establish the foundation for a strong and lasting connection. This program focuses on obedience, socialization, and fostering a well-behaved and joyful canine companion.
Course
Our Basic Obedience program offers 8 personalized, one-on-one sessions tailored to meet your dog's unique needs. You’ll also get 4 group classes designed to practice the skills you’ve learned in real-world settings with distractions. This combination ensures your dog can behave confidently and calmly, both at home and in public.

Requirements
For the safety of all participants, please make sure your dog has up-to-date shot records before joining our group classes.

Duration
Each class spans 4 weeks, ensuring a well-paced and thorough exploration of foundational concepts.
Advanced Obedience Classes
Our Working Puppy Class is tailored for dogs with a career path, emphasizing foundational skills for service, therapy, and other working roles. Join us for the right start to nurture a skilled and reliable working partner.
Course
Elevate your dog's obedience with our Advanced Obedience program. This course includes 10 expert-led sessions, applying Canine Learning Theory for off-leash control and advanced commands. Half of the sessions will take place at our Huntsville, AL training facility, while the other half will be out in public settings, helping your dog learn to respond in real-world environments. Plus, you’ll receive free CGC (Canine Good Citizen) testing upon completion.
10 sessions, with 5 at our facility and 5 in public spaces.
A mix of one-on-one and group classes (4 group sessions) for well-rounded training.
Focus on off-leash skills for greater control in any situation.
Duration
This comprehensive training initiative is tailored for discerning dog enthusiasts. This program spans six sessions, each meticulously crafted to instill a solid foundation for your working puppy's development.
At-Home Classes
The AKC STAR Puppy Classes at Impactful Canine Training provide socialization, basic commands, grooming acceptance, and distraction training. Puppies receive the AKC STAR Puppy certification upon completion.

- Foundational Phase: Basic obedience behaviors are introduced and reinforced in low-distraction settings. You learn cue delivery, timing, reward systems, and communication techniques.
- Intermediate Phase & Proofing: We layer in distractions, new environments, and length/duration so behaviors generalize. We gradually reduce prompts to increase independence.
- Public / Real-World Application: You and your dog practice obedience in everyday situations — parks, streets, around people and other dogs — under guidance and with feedback.
- Graduation & Maintenance: We help you maintain obedience long-term with refreshers, challenges, and periodic check-ins to keep skills sharp.
